Weekly Recruiting Preview - Commit Watch

And there it is..........................just when the dead period is over and we're having fun again with recruits on campus, another dead period starts for the month of August. That doesn't mean recruiting stops though; it never rests. Kirby Smart and company just had a ton of 2023 and 2024 prospects on campus for their 'Dawg Days of Summer' event. That's the last chance the guys had to visit before it's time for Gameday visits. While there won't be any recruits on campus, there will stil

Weekly Recruiting Review - You Win Some and You Lose Some

Recruiting would be much less entertaining if you could just make a list of the exact 25-30 prospects you want every year and they just sign on the dotted line in December and February. I'm sure there are some days that Kirby Smart wishes he could do that. There are some days that my nerves wish the Dawgs could do that very thing. That would take away all of the fun and the intrigue. It would take away all of the passion for the fans and the recruiting staffs, not to mention the recruits. We're

Official Dawgs Central Prediction/Player Eval for 3* Receiver Yazeed Haynes

If you look at the commit list for Georgia for the 2023 class, you'll notice that it's loaded with highly ranked defensive prospects. From Joenel Aguero to Gabe Harris, the Dawgs will have a top of the line defense for years to come. You'll also notice that the list of offensive commits includes tight ends, offensive linemen, and one receiver. Raymond Cottrell is the lone pass catcher of the group and one of the longest committed players. He's going to need some help chasing down those dimes fro

Official Dawgs Central Prediction - Caleb Downs

In-state safety Caleb Downs has been a top target for Georgia for the majority of his recruitment. UGA has made him a priority target for not only his position, but for the 2023 class as a whole. The 5* safety is one of the most college ready prospects in this class. His speed, athleticism, anticipation, and football IQ are all off the charts. These factors make him an almost can't miss for the Dawgs. Kirby Smart and company would love to pair him with fellow 5* safety and recent commit, Joenel

Weekly Recruiting Preview - Dead Period is Over

The dead period is over for a week! It is now a "quiet period" on the NCAA calendar. This means that there can be no off-campus contact, but prospects can visit the schools. These visits have to be unofficial visits, as no officials are allowed during this period. Another dead period is set for the month of August, so expect a great deal of visitors to Athens and scross the country this week. One top target that has confirmed his trip to Athens is 2024 5* corner Ellis Robinson, who plans to

Weekly Recruiting Review - Dawg Fans Got a Shocker and Three Big Commits

The third full week in July may have been the craziest week of them all for Dawg fans. There were plenty of commitments, rumors of commitments, rumors of flips, and everything else you could think of. If you follow recruiting closely, it was enough to you busy all day chasing down news. That's why we at Dawgs Central do our best to chase down the news for you. One commitment that NOBODY was ready for was that of Justice Haynes. It's not the date that was the shocker, it's the fact that he c

One position group The University of Georgia should have no problem recruiting is the secondary group. Top targets should be fighting to learn under  Kirby Smart as the Head Coach, along with Will Muschamp and Fran Brown on Staff. The trio gives UGA one of the best, if not the best coaching tandems in the nation. Even before Muschamp and Brown arrived, there has never really been a problem getting the best of the best coenerbacks to play their college ball in Athens. While safety recruiting

One thing UGA fans have been forced to get used to with offensive line recruiting is change. Sam Pittman came on board with Kirby Smart's inagural staff and proved to be a monster recruiter. He helped produce multiple NFL draft picks, such as Lamont Gallaird in 2019. Andrew Thomas (Pick 4) and Isaiah Wilson (Pick 29) both went in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, while Solomon Kindley was drafted in the 4th round (Pick 111). In 2021, Ben Cleveland was drafted in the 3rd round with the 94th

Weekly Recruiting Preview - Dawgs Will Get Better This Week

Even after yesterday's surprising news, It's obvious with the way the recruiting calendar is set up that July is now the biggest month for commitments. UGA and pretty much every other major program have watched their commit lists grow. Of course NIL (name, image, and likeness) is now playing a huge part, with teams like Texas and Miami buying players left and right. It was Texas A&M with the 2022 class, pulling in the highest ranked recruiting class in history while producing a 8-4 record in

UGA Recruiting - Weekly Review

The second week in July proved to be a big one for the Georgia Bulldogs. There have been over 100 commitments so far in the month and the Dawgs have been a big part of it. While there was only one added to the 2023 commit list this past week, it was a very important piece to the puzzle. On the 10th, Raylen Wilson did what everyone was expecting and Committed to the G! Wilson is a 4* linebacker and one of the most athletic, if not the most athletic at his position. This athleticism combined

Official Dawgs Central Prediction/Player Eval for 4* Linebacker Troy Bowles

The University of Georgia just put three linebackers in the NFL draft this year. The trio of Quay Walker (Round 1, Pick 22), Nakobe Dean (Round 3, Pick 83), and Channing Tindall (Round 3, Pick 102) might just be the best to come out of Athens in the same year. Azeez Ojulari (Round 2, Pick 50) and Monty Rice (Round 3, Pick 92) were big picks for UGA in 2021. Tae Crowder was Mr Irrelevent in as the 255th pick in the seventh round in 2020. D'Andre Walker was drafted by the Titans in the fifth round

Dawgs Central Prediction - Dawgs Will Get Big Man in the MIddle

As everyone is well aware, one of the keys to UGA's historic defense last season was Jordan Davis. His 6'6 340 pound frame took multiple offensive linemen to block, freeing up those around him. He also made plenty of plays himself in the backfield and running sideline to sideline. Kirby Smart and company have found Jordan Davis 2.0 in 6'6 350 pound Jamaal Jarrett. The similarities only start at their size. Both are from North Carolina, Jarrett is athletic like Davis, they have similar footwork,

Busy Week for UGA in Recruiting

It's been a whirlwind of a start for us here at Dawgs Central. Note to self - don't start a new website the same month official visits begin! We've tried so far to keep you updated on all the comings and goings with all of the top targets visiting and many committing. It will make it easier to do this by publishing a weekly recruiting preview. This will allow you to see everything already scheduled for the week without having to scroll through a bunch of forum posts. While the Dawgs receive

What Happened With the Dawgs Last Week - UGA Recruiting Review

Here at Dawgs Central we want to make sure you don't miss a thing. We're going to start doing a recruiting review every single week so you can have all of the week's happenings in one place. This will normally go out on Saturday, but we'll post this one today to make sure we're all caught up. We'll also cover from the first of July: Where to start! It has been an absolutely massive month for the Dawgs and it promises to get only better. Four star corner Daniel Harris started us off on

Dawgs Add a Big Piece to the Puzzle

July is turning into the biggest recruiting month of the year, as commitments are pouring in for most of the top college football programs across the country. This is after thousands of prospects flocked to campuses for official visits in June. Many of these guys are now wanting to get their commitment over so that they can concentrate on their senior seasons.  Count the Georgia Bulldogs in on the fun! The Dawgs have a great chance to add as many as eight total commits this month. One was a

Dawgs Central Prediction - Georgia Will Add Another DB

A couple of months ago Justyn Rhett decommitted from Notre Dame while on a visit to UGA. Not long after that, he was officially a Dawg. He was the only DB on the current commit list up until June 16th, when AJ Harris jumped on board. Georgia previously had in-state DB Kain Lee committed, but he's been off the board for a while and recently committed to Ohio State. Look for the Dawgs to take 5 total in the secondary. It will likely be three corners and two safeties, according to who wants to

Dawgs Central Prediction - Georgia Will Complete the Flip

To say that The University of Georgia has some positive momentum on the recruiting trail would be a severe understatement. The Dawgs are absolutely smoking. This is due in large part to a large portion of top targets taking their official visits in June. Many of these guys will make their decisions in July, so they can concentrate on their senior seasons. Of course UGA didn't have to wait until July, as 3* offensive lineman Joshua Miller got the party started by decommitting from from Penn

The Good, The Bad, and The Unknown - 2023 Skill Positions

Let's do a series this week called "The Good, The Bad, and the Unknown". I don't think there will be much of The Ugly here, so we'll leave that out. Some of the most interesting recruitments of the year are with the skill positions. Of course everyone knows we lost out on a certain QB to not be named, but where do we go from there. What do we do with the 2nd running back spot? And the recruitments of the receivers are always fun to follow! QUARTERBACK THE GOOD 1) We're fine at quarterbac

Georgia Made Some Moves This Past Weekend

Kirby Smart and company had a star studded group of visitors in town this past weekend, and Georgia may be in a better spot with a couple of them that what I originally thought. Let's cut the fluff and get straight to it: I've been screaming the entire recruiting cycle that 5* RB Richard Young and Justice Haynes won't end up at the same school. UGA had him in town this past weekend and of course he had a great time (who doesn't on an official visit). I'm told that the Dawgs are making things

Star Studded Group of Official Visitors Headed to Athens This Weekend

While each group that makes their way to the Classic City every weekend is special, this weekend will be a five syar event! Snagging a couple of guys from this weekend would almost guarantee a top 1-3 recruiting finish for the 2023 class. There are four 5* prospects expected to head to Athens this weekend, with another four 4* recruits in the house. The ninth is a 3* Dawg legacy. UGA is known for bringing in some absolutely nasty running back combinations, but I've never thought that Justic

What We're Hearing on June 10th Official Visitors

One thing I have learned is a lot of recruiting followers don't necessarily care to read a lot of fluff in an article. They just want to know who was here and who we're getting. Saying that, let's just get down to it: The biggest visitor for the weekend for me (literally and figuratively) was Jamaal Jarrett. Jordan Davis was brought in to speak with the recruits, but it wasn't an accident that he was brought in on Jarrett's weekend. I've been told that it couldn't have gone any better with

UGA Official Visitors for June 10th Weekend

Round 2 Set to Begin. Last week was one of the biggest, if not the biggest recruiting weekend ever for UGA. One thing I was told: if we get who we think we're getting from last weekend, we just won ourselves another national championship. While this weekend won't be as star studded (how can it be with Arch Manning headlining last weekend), it will still be loaded with talent. The first weekend in June brought 13 official visitors to Athens, and the Dawgs follow it up with 10 this weekend. T

UGA Official Visitors for June 3rd Weekend

Georga is starting the summer off with a bang with an absolutely huge recruiting weekend that will help shape this year's recruiting class. The Dawgs will be hosting visitors all summer, but this would could end up being a very special one. Starting off with our top overall target, UGA gets the first shot with 5* quarterback Arch Manning. Alabama receiving a commitment from Eli Holstein puts more emphasis on what already looked more like a UGA/Texas battle. Kirby Smart would love for M

2023 Prospects Predicted to UGA - High Confidence Level

Alright, we started with the low confidence predictions and continued with the medium confidence predictions. Now it's time for the 2023 prospects that I have the utmost confidence in committing to UGA: 1. JUSTICE HAYNES - He may take visits and it may look like he has other schools as high as UGA, but when it comes down to it he's a DAWG. I would be very very very surprised if he's not. 2. TYLER WILLIAMS - It would be hilarious to get the top receiver from Lakeland High (heavy Florida

2023 Recruiting Shapshot Defense

I'm not one that believes that you shouldn't question coaches, even if they make millions a year. I am one that believes you damn well better know what you're talking about if you're going to question Kirby Smart's defensive recruiting. Let's be honest, it just won us a National Championship. That's why I like to sit back and watch and laugh early on in the recruiting process when guys are in a panic over who we have or don't have. I always say, "just relax, Kirby will get his." 2023 is no
