Alright, Georgia had one of the biggest commitments in the 2023 cycle last week with Tyler Williams going public with his Commitment to the G. The 4* receiver committed to UGA over Miami, South Carolina, and plenty of others. He'll be a much needed addition to the receiver room in Athens, especially with him playing the receiver position for such a short time and his best football ahead of him.
Georgia will also have it's biggest recruiting weekend of the season with Auburn being the bigges
Let's start this off with the caveat that stars aren't the only thing that matters in recruiting. It's fun to follow and talk about who the top players in the country are, but the star rating system is as much of a tool to attract fans to recruiting websites as it is anything else. Some five star prospects work out and some do not for a variety of reasons. Many get injured and just aren't the same anymore, which brings one player to mind. I believe Tramel Terry was ranked as a 5* at one time and

With the first game of the season against Oregon taking place in Atlanta and Georgia hosting Samford and Kent State, Kirby Smart and company have done a very good job of still getting top prospects on campus. Georgia had two very important official visitors in town this weekend in 2023 5* TE Duce Robinson and 2023 4* DL Markis Deal. Another top target was in town and UGA seems to have grabbed some momentum with 2024 5* ATH Mike Matthews. 2025 5* OL Mason Short made the trip to see how Broderick

Two games into the season and plenty of elite prospects have made their way to Atlanta and Athens to see the Dawgs in person. Check out our visitor list for the Samford game HERE. It includes three 5* prospects - 2023 5* Edge Samuel M'Pemba, 2024 5* ATH KJ Bolden and 2024 5* CB Charles Lester. It also includes a big time receiver in Demitrius Bell, who recently decommitted from Michigan State. Of course Sanford Stadium will be empty Saturday, as the Dawgs hit the road to Columbia, South Carolina

Troy Bowles - Jesuit @ Columbus
Jesuit senior standout Troy Bowles, a Georgia commit,
August is over and so is the dead period! An evaluation period has also started, which means Kirby Smart and his on-field coaching staff can hit the road/air and check out some of UGA's top targets under the Friday Night Lights. We were able to get a solid visit list together for the Oregon game HERE. It included 2023 recruits like Justice Haynes, Caleb Downs, and Stephiylan Green (all committed elsewhere). Top targets such as Daevin Hobbs and Chris Peal were also at The Benz. If that's not enou
Dawg fans already have something to celebrate to begin the start of the season and Oregon week. Four star prospect Monroe Freeling is now on the UGA commit list. The 6'7 285 pound offensive lineman committed to Georgia over Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami and others. As we mentioned in his commitment preview, this is really one that came down to UGA offensive line coach Stacy Searels.
Freeling had an offer from UGA, but Searels really turned up the heat after he was hired. As a matter of f
Another day and another decision for a top UGA target. While the last one didn't go as we wanted, I believe Dawg fans will be happy after 7:30 tonight. That's when Monroe Freeling will announce his decision.
One of the hot topics in UGA recruiting circles has been the recruiting ability of offensive line coach Stacy Searels since he was hired. While I have been one of his biggest critics, I can say that we wouldn't be the favorite to gain Freeling's commitment tonight without him. The two h

While recruiting has slowed down a bit since the dead period started on August 1st, there are still some important things going on in regards to the 2023 UGA recruiting class. The Dawgs currently have the fifth highest rated class according to the 247sports composite rankings, with the On3 consensus rankings has Georgia with the third ranked class in the nation. Alabama and Notre Dame are #1 and #2 in both, with 20 and 23 commits compared to our 18 commits.
Last week saw some well known nam
The great thing about fall camp starting is obvious........................FOOTBALL IS HERE!!! One of the negatives is that recruiting slows down somewhat due to another dead period in place for the month of August. We're going to swith this month to a once a week recruiting overview. Prospects can still talk to coaching staffs, but there can't be any visits on or off campus. They can also do whatever they want as far as announcing commitments and such. Many players are doing just that before th
We could talk about the history of running backs at The University of Georgia until we're blue in the face. Most Dawg fans could recite names, awards, and stats in their sleep. The prestige of the running back position at UGA is unmatched. As Ric Flair would say, "often imitated, but never duplicated". We can go on and on talking about the RB-U tradition at Georgia, but I'm going to end this introduction like D'Andre Swift's dad was ready to end the Auburn Tigers:
Georgia identified D'
The University of Georgia is RB-U. That's the statement. That's it. With the storied history of running backs that came through UGA, one would think that the Dawgs could pull any running back in the country that they want. That simply has not been the case in 2023. Alabama also has a big history of star running backs, so it isn't s surprise when a player chooses the Crimson Tide. Let's be honest, they're in a dynasty right now, so we shouldn't be shocked when someone like five star running back
And there it is..........................just when the dead period is over and we're having fun again with recruits on campus, another dead period starts for the month of August. That doesn't mean recruiting stops though; it never rests.
Kirby Smart and company just had a ton of 2023 and 2024 prospects on campus for their 'Dawg Days of Summer' event. That's the last chance the guys had to visit before it's time for Gameday visits. While there won't be any recruits on campus, there will stil
The University of Georgia is known for having some of the best running backs in the history of college football. From Herschel Walker to Nick Chubb, there's no college football program around that can compare to the excellence that has come from that position in Athens, Georgia. Each player that has come through and toted the rock for the Georgia Bulldogs did it with their own unique capabilities. Each recruit that comes in understands the importance of continuing the tradition set by the absolu
Recruiting would be much less entertaining if you could just make a list of the exact 25-30 prospects you want every year and they just sign on the dotted line in December and February. I'm sure there are some days that Kirby Smart wishes he could do that. There are some days that my nerves wish the Dawgs could do that very thing. That would take away all of the fun and the intrigue. It would take away all of the passion for the fans and the recruiting staffs, not to mention the recruits. We're
If you look at the commit list for Georgia for the 2023 class, you'll notice that it's loaded with highly ranked defensive prospects. From Joenel Aguero to Gabe Harris, the Dawgs will have a top of the line defense for years to come. You'll also notice that the list of offensive commits includes tight ends, offensive linemen, and one receiver. Raymond Cottrell is the lone pass catcher of the group and one of the longest committed players. He's going to need some help chasing down those dimes fro
One thing UGA is known for under Kirby Smart is having a plan A, B, C, D, and E for recruiting every position. He and his staff have proved it year after year. They rarely put all their eggs in one basket for a prospect. Of course that hasn't been the case this year, as the Dawgs went all out for Arch Manning. Unfortunately, he recently chose Texas over our beloved Dawgs. Many fans will see this as a big mess up by the staff, but did the ten million dollar a year national championship head coach
In-state safety Caleb Downs has been a top target for Georgia for the majority of his recruitment. UGA has made him a priority target for not only his position, but for the 2023 class as a whole. The 5* safety is one of the most college ready prospects in this class. His speed, athleticism, anticipation, and football IQ are all off the charts. These factors make him an almost can't miss for the Dawgs. Kirby Smart and company would love to pair him with fellow 5* safety and recent commit, Joenel
The dead period is over for a week! It is now a "quiet period" on the NCAA calendar. This means that there can be no off-campus contact, but prospects can visit the schools. These visits have to be unofficial visits, as no officials are allowed during this period. Another dead period is set for the month of August, so expect a great deal of visitors to Athens and scross the country this week.
One top target that has confirmed his trip to Athens is 2024 5* corner Ellis Robinson, who plans to
It's always fun to look back and review the recruiting choices that Georgia made. There are always going to be guys that you can look back on and say "man, I wish we would have gone after him", especially in-state guys. We're never going to say UGA was wrong in signing a player that came to Athens and gave his all to help the team. If they came here, put in the work, stayed out of trouble, then I believe they deserve some respect for that. We'll never be the type of site to bash our own, whether
The third full week in July may have been the craziest week of them all for Dawg fans. There were plenty of commitments, rumors of commitments, rumors of flips, and everything else you could think of. If you follow recruiting closely, it was enough to you busy all day chasing down news. That's why we at Dawgs Central do our best to chase down the news for you.
One commitment that NOBODY was ready for was that of Justice Haynes. It's not the date that was the shocker, it's the fact that he c
