COMMIT! Five Star is Finally a Dawg

Make no mistake about it, Coach Diribe and the rest of the Georgia coaching staff have put the work in to secure the commitment of five star edge prospect Damon Wilson. This has been a battle with Ohio State for what seems to be the longest time. As a matter of fact, there was a point this fall where I would have predicted him to the Buckeyes.

Then the top 5* target visited for the Tennessee game. Most of the time one game doesn't decide a recruitment, but this game certainly didn't hurt the Dawgs. Since that time UGA gained more and more momentum until he finally put on the Dawg hat today in front of the entire nation on ESPN.

Kirby Smart and Ryan Day both took their in-home visits shortly before Wilson's state championship game againt Lakeland and UGA commit Tyler Williams. Smart won this one in the end, just like he hopes to do on December 31st. UGA putting so many defensive players at the top of the NFL draft was certainly a deciding factor, along with the coaching staff and their ability to develop. Distance from home also certainly didn't hurt the Dawgs.

Wilson is Georgia's second five star commit this cycle, joining AJ Harris, who is already in Athens practicing with the team. Being somewhat thin on the edge, Wilson could earn early playing time in Athens, especially on third downs.
