Weekly Recruiting Preview - Dead Period is Over

The dead period is over for a week! It is now a "quiet period" on the NCAA calendar. This means that there can be no off-campus contact, but prospects can visit the schools. These visits have to be unofficial visits, as no officials are allowed during this period. Another dead period is set for the month of August, so expect a great deal of visitors to Athens and scross the country this week.

One top target that has confirmed his trip to Athens is 2024 5* corner Ellis Robinson, who plans to be in town Fridat the 29th. Georgia holds a lead here, but will have to continue to make the IMG Academy prospect a priority. Another 2024 5* recruit who will be in town this week is KJ Bolden. He is a top in-state prospect who could end up playing on either side of the ball on Saturdays. Just as Robinson is, he is a target for every powerhouse team across the country. He's a frequent visitor to Athens, as well as other places like Tuscaloosa, AL and Columbus, OH. We expect to see plenty more top 2024 and 2025 targets to conclude July.

There will be a huge recruiting event this weekend, which has been dubbed the 'Dawg Days of Summer' in past years, where the staff and recruits enjoy a slip-n-slide and water wars, music, good food, etc. This gives Kirby Smart and the staff a chance to just have a fun and laid back time with the visitors. It's always good to show the recruits and their families that the coaches can put away their playbooks and whistles and show their 'human' side with their families.

Tyler Williams is one name that we believe could make his way to Athens sometime this week. He is a top receiver target for the Dawgs from Lakeland, Florida. With Kelton Smith now on board, Monroe Freeling is the top target left for the offensive line. Watch for him to make his way to Athens this week, as well. There are plenty of other names we're keeping an eye on, and we'll have a list published leading up to the big event.

A very important target is coming off the board on the 27th. After adding Joenel Aguero last week, the Dawgs would love nothing more than to pair him up with fellow 5* safety Caleb Downs. This has been a highly contested race between Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State for months. Notre Dame is also in his top 4, but it has mainly been the other three powerhouses battling it out. We'll have our 'Official Dawgs Central Prediction' in for Downs this afternoon. Four star receiver Aidan Mizell will be committing on the 29th. UGA was never really a big threat for the Florida legacy, and while he has a top three of Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee, it would be a surprise if he isn't a Gator.

While there aren't any top Dawg targets already scheduled to commit, it wouldn't be a surprise if we didn't get one more to make it 10 total for the month of July.
