Dawgs Add a Big Piece to the Puzzle

July is turning into the biggest recruiting month of the year, as commitments are pouring in for most of the top college football programs across the country. This is after thousands of prospects flocked to campuses for official visits in June. Many of these guys are now wanting to get their commitment over so that they can concentrate on their senior seasons.

Count the Georgia Bulldogs in on the fun! The Dawgs have a great chance to add as many as eight total commits this month. One was already in before this weekend, with 4* corner Daniel Harris 'Committing to the G' on July 1st. A huge piece was added to the puzzle yesterday in 4* linebacker Raylen Wilson, a former Michigan commit.

Wilson was committed to the Wolverines for almost seven months before backing away on June 28th. Althought he took visits to Ann Arbor and Gainesville he had Georgia on his mind the entire time. His visit to Athens the first weekend in June cemented his thoughts for the Dawgs and he publicly committed yesterday. He joins 4* CJ Allen on the commit list to form a dynamic inside linebacker duo for Coach Glenn Schumann. Troy Bowles is making his decision in five days and Dawgs Central has him committing to Georgia to complete the ILB trifecta.

One of the most impressive facts about Wilson is that he is currently only 16 years old. His 6'2 215 pound frame at that age with the ability to run a 10.91 100-yard dash screams 5* potential. He is currently the #5 ranked linebacker in the nation, but a big senior year should send him even higher. Malik Bryant and Jaiden Ausberry are in the three and four spots ahead of Wilson and while they are very good players, I'd have Wilson ahead of them now. The aforementioned Bowles is in the second spot, while 5* Anthony Hill is ranked as the #1 linebacker in the nation. You could make an argument for Wilson, Bowles, and Hill for the #1 spot.

Wilson is the third higest ranked prospect on UGA's commit list, behind 5* corner AJ Harris and 4* tight end Pearce Spurlin. Georgia has at least four more top targets making their decisions later this month. Bowles is scheduled to commit on July 16th. There may be a surprise the next day! Jamaal Jarrett will pull the trigger on July 19th, with Kelton Smith planning to go on July 22nd and Joenel Aguero deciding on July 23rd.
