UGA Reruiting Overview - 8/15/22

While recruiting has slowed down a bit since the dead period started on August 1st, there are still some important things going on in regards to the 2023 UGA recruiting class. The Dawgs currently have the fifth highest rated class according to the 247sports composite rankings, with the On3 consensus rankings has Georgia with the third ranked class in the nation. Alabama and Notre Dame are #1 and #2 in both, with 20 and 23 commits compared to our 18 commits. Last week saw some well known nam

Dawgs Get a Running Back - Roderick Robinson Has Committed to UGA

Kirby Smart ALWAYS has a plan.  Everyone knows the story by now of legacy RB recruit Justice Haynes committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Of course that's not fun to see, but we told you not to panic because Kirby Smart ALWAYS has a plan. That plan comes in at 6'1 and 230 pounds of muscle. The Dawgs have gone to California again for a very important commit and after visiting this weekend, Roderick Robinson has decided to become a part of RBU! The four star running back was committed

COMMIT! Big Time Speedster to UGA

There hasn't been as much "hoopla" involving Georgia and the 2023 class as there was in previous classes, with most of the hay being in the barn for Kirby Smart and company. How glad were you when Nakobe Dean chose the Dawgs out of the 3-5 teams he was still considering on signing day? How about the last minute flip of George Pickens from in-state Auburn to UGA? That's my favorite recruiting memory between the Dawgs and my most hated team in the entire world! There has been one prospect who

Dawgs Add a Big Piece to the Puzzle

July is turning into the biggest recruiting month of the year, as commitments are pouring in for most of the top college football programs across the country. This is after thousands of prospects flocked to campuses for official visits in June. Many of these guys are now wanting to get their commitment over so that they can concentrate on their senior seasons.  Count the Georgia Bulldogs in on the fun! The Dawgs have a great chance to add as many as eight total commits this month. One was a

Georgia Made Some Moves This Past Weekend

Kirby Smart and company had a star studded group of visitors in town this past weekend, and Georgia may be in a better spot with a couple of them that what I originally thought. Let's cut the fluff and get straight to it: I've been screaming the entire recruiting cycle that 5* RB Richard Young and Justice Haynes won't end up at the same school. UGA had him in town this past weekend and of course he had a great time (who doesn't on an official visit). I'm told that the Dawgs are making things

The Good, The Bad, and The Unknown - 2023 Skill Positions

Let's do a series this week called "The Good, The Bad, and the Unknown". I don't think there will be much of The Ugly here, so we'll leave that out. Some of the most interesting recruitments of the year are with the skill positions. Of course everyone knows we lost out on a certain QB to not be named, but where do we go from there. What do we do with the 2nd running back spot? And the recruitments of the receivers are always fun to follow! QUARTERBACK THE GOOD 1) We're fine at quarterbac

Weekly Recruiting Overview 9/15/22

Two games into the season and plenty of elite prospects have made their way to Atlanta and Athens to see the Dawgs in person. Check out our visitor list for the Samford game HERE. It includes three 5* prospects - 2023 5* Edge Samuel M'Pemba, 2024 5* ATH KJ Bolden and 2024 5* CB Charles Lester. It also includes a big time receiver in Demitrius Bell, who recently decommitted from Michigan State. Of course Sanford Stadium will be empty Saturday, as the Dawgs hit the road to Columbia, South Carolina

COMMIT! Harris is a Dawg Again

There actually hasn't been a ton of drama surrounding Georgia recruiting as in previous years leading up to National Signing Day. The Dawgs had 23 solid commitments already in the fold, with nine of those prospects already in Athens and practicing with the team. There were only four primary targets left on the board heading into today, with a few transfer portal targets left to decide. The one who made the most noise as far as UGA is concerned is Daniel Harris. The 4* DB actually committed

Weekly Recruiting Overview 10/18/22

Reruiting is picking up around the nation as we approach December's early signing period for the class of 2023. There has been a lot going on lately as far as UGA is concerned for this class, as well as the 2024 class. Since so much has been hapening, let's just get right into it: Georgia picked up a huge commitment on october 10th, as 4* RB Roderick Robinson decided to flip his commitment from UCLA to the Dawgs. This was the day after his weekend official visit for the Auburn game. The 6'1

Official Dawgs Central Prediction - Monroe Freeling

Another day and another decision for a top UGA target. While the last one didn't go as we wanted, I believe Dawg fans will be happy after 7:30 tonight. That's when Monroe Freeling will announce his decision. One of the hot topics in UGA recruiting circles has been the recruiting ability of offensive line coach Stacy Searels since he was hired. While I have been one of his biggest critics, I can say that we wouldn't be the favorite to gain Freeling's commitment tonight without him. The two h

Weekly Recruiting Overview 10/24/22

Just because there is a bye week in the schedule doesn't mean that recruiting also slows down. As a matter of fact, it actually picks up in a way because the coaching staff uses the free time as an opportunity to hit the road (air) and go see top targets. Kirby Smart and company jumped in cars, planes, and copters and hit the Friday night lights across the country this past weekend. Kirby Smart was able to go to Florida to see 2023 5* EDGE Damon Wilson (more on him later) and 2023 4* DL Jor

Monroe Freeling is a Dawg

Dawg fans already have something to celebrate to begin the start of the season and Oregon week. Four star prospect Monroe Freeling is now on the UGA commit list. The 6'7 285 pound offensive lineman committed to Georgia over Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami and others. As we mentioned in his commitment preview, this is really one that came down to UGA offensive line coach Stacy Searels. Freeling had an offer from UGA, but Searels really turned up the heat after he was hired. As a matter of f

COMMIT! Five Star is Finally a Dawg

Make no mistake about it, Coach Diribe and the rest of the Georgia coaching staff have put the work in to secure the commitment of five star edge prospect Damon Wilson. This has been a battle with Ohio State for what seems to be the longest time. As a matter of fact, there was a point this fall where I would have predicted him to the Buckeyes. Then the top 5* target visited for the Tennessee game. Most of the time one game doesn't decide a recruitment, but this game certainly didn't hurt th

Official Dawgs Central Prediction/Player Eval for 3* Receiver Yazeed Haynes

If you look at the commit list for Georgia for the 2023 class, you'll notice that it's loaded with highly ranked defensive prospects. From Joenel Aguero to Gabe Harris, the Dawgs will have a top of the line defense for years to come. You'll also notice that the list of offensive commits includes tight ends, offensive linemen, and one receiver. Raymond Cottrell is the lone pass catcher of the group and one of the longest committed players. He's going to need some help chasing down those dimes fro

Busy Week for UGA in Recruiting

It's been a whirlwind of a start for us here at Dawgs Central. Note to self - don't start a new website the same month official visits begin! We've tried so far to keep you updated on all the comings and goings with all of the top targets visiting and many committing. It will make it easier to do this by publishing a weekly recruiting preview. This will allow you to see everything already scheduled for the week without having to scroll through a bunch of forum posts. While the Dawgs receive

Official Dawgs Central Prediction - Chris Peal

Georgia has been after 2023 4* CB Chris Peal for the majority of this year, offering the 6'0 175 pounder in March. This is actually a decent bit after his other top schools, with Michigan, UNC, and NC State all offering in 2021. This immediately peaked the interest in the Noath Carolina native and he took his official visit to Athens the first weekend in June. Pretty much since that time UGA has looked like the team to beat. Peal took other official visits to NC State, Michigan, and South C

Star Studded Group of Official Visitors Headed to Athens This Weekend

While each group that makes their way to the Classic City every weekend is special, this weekend will be a five syar event! Snagging a couple of guys from this weekend would almost guarantee a top 1-3 recruiting finish for the 2023 class. There are four 5* prospects expected to head to Athens this weekend, with another four 4* recruits in the house. The ninth is a 3* Dawg legacy. UGA is known for bringing in some absolutely nasty running back combinations, but I've never thought that Justic

Weekly Recruiting Overview 9/26/22

With the first game of the season against Oregon taking place in Atlanta and Georgia hosting Samford and Kent State, Kirby Smart and company have done a very good job of still getting top prospects on campus. Georgia had two very important official visitors in town this weekend in 2023 5* TE Duce Robinson and 2023 4* DL Markis Deal. Another top target was in town and UGA seems to have grabbed some momentum with 2024 5* ATH Mike Matthews. 2025 5* OL Mason Short made the trip to see how Broderick

UGA Official Visitors for June 3rd Weekend

Georga is starting the summer off with a bang with an absolutely huge recruiting weekend that will help shape this year's recruiting class. The Dawgs will be hosting visitors all summer, but this would could end up being a very special one. Starting off with our top overall target, UGA gets the first shot with 5* quarterback Arch Manning. Alabama receiving a commitment from Eli Holstein puts more emphasis on what already looked more like a UGA/Texas battle. Kirby Smart would love for M

2023 Recruiting Shapshot Defense

I'm not one that believes that you shouldn't question coaches, even if they make millions a year. I am one that believes you damn well better know what you're talking about if you're going to question Kirby Smart's defensive recruiting. Let's be honest, it just won us a National Championship. That's why I like to sit back and watch and laugh early on in the recruiting process when guys are in a panic over who we have or don't have. I always say, "just relax, Kirby will get his." 2023 is no

2023 Prospects Predicted to UGA - High Confidence Level

Alright, we started with the low confidence predictions and continued with the medium confidence predictions. Now it's time for the 2023 prospects that I have the utmost confidence in committing to UGA: 1. JUSTICE HAYNES - He may take visits and it may look like he has other schools as high as UGA, but when it comes down to it he's a DAWG. I would be very very very surprised if he's not. 2. TYLER WILLIAMS - It would be hilarious to get the top receiver from Lakeland High (heavy Florida

COMMIT! Hall to the Red and Black

First there was Davis and Wyatt, now there is Jarrett and Hall. The previous duo are first round NFL picks and the latter hopes to do the same. While Jarrett has been on the commit list for a while, it has taken Hall longer to make a final decision. The four star defensive lineman from Jacksonville has been high on Georgia for the longest. UGA receiveved his last visit and received his last in-home visit. That was for good reason. Not only has her been high on Georgia for a while, the Dawgs
