Weekly Recruiting Overview 9/26/22

With the first game of the season against Oregon taking place in Atlanta and Georgia hosting Samford and Kent State, Kirby Smart and company have done a very good job of still getting top prospects on campus. Georgia had two very important official visitors in town this weekend in 2023 5* TE Duce Robinson and 2023 4* DL Markis Deal. Another top target was in town and UGA seems to have grabbed some momentum with 2024 5* ATH Mike Matthews. 2025 5* OL Mason Short made the trip to see how Broderick Jones and the others performed. Normally we don't report much on freshmen, but this kid is a very important one. The next BIG TIME in-state quarterback, 2026 QB Julian Lewis, came to see Stetson sling the ball around. There will not be a visit list this week as the Dawgs travel to face Missouri, but the list the week after for the Auburn game will be stacked. 2023 5* Edge Samuel M'Pemba and 2023 4* DL Daevin Hobbs are already scheduled to take their official visits that weekend.

There weren't any notable decommits to discuss, whether it be current or former targets. There was a commit that happened the past couple of days, but if you've been reading our updates you already knew that Georgia didn't have any momentum with 2023 5* receiver Hykeem Williams. He committed to Florida State over Texas A&M and others. This is still a recruitment that I believe still goes to the wire and it will be interesting to see how much UGA wants to get involved in what seems to be a recruitment that will be heavily NIL involved.

As most of you already know, 2023 4* receiver Tyler Williams will be making his decision tomorrow 9/27 at 7pm. Georgia has been the team to beat for a while, with it looking like Texas A&M as the main competition. The Miami Hurricanes have come on strong in recent weeks, with Williams visiting for two of their games. You would normally have to worry more if a top target visits another program two days before committing, like WIlliams did this weekend for Miami's massive loss to MTSU. While you do need to take it into consideration, I still have UGA getting the good news tomorrow. As I've said since the Miami talk started, this will be Joenel Aguero 2.0.

October will be a big recruiting month for UGA, as many official visits and possible commitmets will take place. We'll have all if it covered at Dawgs Central.
