About this blog

I used to run a site called The Bulldawg Blawg. I always wanted to name it The Junkyard Blawg, but that name was taken at the time. Now? I'm gonna do what I want at Dawgs Central.

Two Words of Advice

The season has arrived, and for the first time since September 5th, 1981 Georgia will step on the field in the season opener as the defending national champions. As Georgia fans, we've enjoyed the most relaxing off-season in over 40 years. No regrets. No what ifs. We did the dang thing. But now as we embark on a new season, I'm sure it won't take long for the old habits to take hold again. Folks will be "Munsoning" over this or that. It's inevitable. Having said that, I do have two words of

SEC Moving to 9 Conference Games?

If you're a Dawgs Central subscriber, this is nothing new to you. We've been talking in our forum about how the SEC schedule should work once Texas and Oklahoma join the league. According to multiple reports, it sounds like the league has narrowed down the possible schedule formats to two. Both of these proposals will eliminate divisions, sending the two teams with the best record to the SEC Championship. But with no divisions, how do you know which teams a school will play each year? Optio

Last Win at Mississippi State

It's been 17 years since Georgia won a football game at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. To be fair, Georgia has only lost one game at Mississippi State in the same span. The opening stat is really just a function of how infrequently these teams play. It is a little crazy that this is only the 26th meeting all time between these two founding members of the Southeastern Conference. But let's go back to that 2005 game. If you know me, you know that I spend a good bit of time at Fripp Island

It's Cocktail Party Week?

How weird is it that it's Georgia/Florida week, but no one is really talking about this weekend's game? Instead, I've seen two topics dominate throughout this week. First up, the debate continues to roar on about whether this game should stay in Jacksonville or not. I wrote about that back in July on the heels of Kirby's comments to Tim Tebow at SEC Media Days, and my opinion hasn't changed. The trigger this week was the joint statement issued by the schools on Monday. While I'm glad the sc

Happy New Year

As 2022 comes to a close, I've spent some time reflecting on just how far this Georgia program has come. After the Dawgs won the National Championship, an installment of the SEC Network's "SEC Storied" series proclaimed 2021 as The Year of the Dawg. And what have the Dawgs done as an encore in 2022? Oh you know, just go 13-0 for the first time in program history and enter the College Football Playoff as the number 1 seed. We've gone from wondering if Georgia would ever win a national title

About the (2019) Offense

Note: I wrote this for The Bulldawg Blawg after the 2019 SEC Championship loss to LSU, but I never published it. It's kind of funny to read now looking back. Personally, I think everyone is putting too much stock into the poor offensive showing in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia rode a great defense to an 11-1 regular season. Sure, we all were wondering if the offense was good enough to overcome a complete team like LSU. Seth Emerson went so far as to say the SEC Championship Game was th
