Sources tell Dawgs Central that running back Kenny McIntosh is likely to miss UGA’s upcoming game against Missouri. At this time it is believed McIntosh will only miss one game. McIntosh left UGA’s game against Kent State last weekend after taking a hit to the thigh on a carry in the fourth quarter. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart told reporters this week that McIntosh had already been dealing with a bruise in the same spot he was hit.

The senior’s 227 receiving yards is tied for second on the team with Ladd McConkey through 4 games. Though listed as a running back, McIntosh is an all-purpose weapon in Todd Monken’s offense. He has lined up as a slot and boundary receiver at different points this year and his productivity in the screen game is an important extension of Georgia’s running game. His 21 receptions lead Georgia’s team so far. McIntosh is also averaging 3.9 yards per carry on 25 attempts.

Kendall Milton, Daijun Edwards and Branson Robinson will all look to contribute in McIntosh’s absence. Milton and Edwards are both averaging 5.9 yards per an attempt so far this season. Milton leads all UGA rushers with 226 yards on 38 carries and Edwards is second on the team with 153 yards on 26 attempts. True freshman Branson Robinson is likely to see more action this week. As reported to DawgsCentral subscribers yesterday, Robinson saw first team reps in some drills during Georgia’s Tuesday practice.

McIntosh being out doesn’t necessarily mean that UGA will abandon its running backs in the passing game. Edwards has 5 catches this season on 5 targets, pitching in 55 yards receiving. Milton showed himself to be a legitimate downfield threat with a 35 yard reception in Georgia’s win over South Carolina.

Georgia faces Missouri in Columbia at 7:30 EST Saturday night. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
