I went out to check on Prince Avenue's UGA target, Christian Garrett, in a game against Athens Academy two weeks ago. Garrett is a 6'5" and 275-pound defensive lineman rated as the 198th overall player in the country in the 2025 recruiting cycle. In the game against Athens Academy, he showed why he was rated as high as he was. He totaled 9 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and blocked a punt in the Wolverines 52-21 win over the Spartans.

Following the game, I had the chance to speak with him about his recruitment and upcoming visits he had lined up. I asked him how he felt out there, and Garrett said, "I felt amazing, you know, beating your rival is a good feeling." He said his recruitment is going good so far, and it started picking up a lot during the spring and summer. "I love it," Garrett said, "It's amazing knowing all these colleges want you and your hard work has paid off." Christian then told me that he was planning on going to the UGA season opener against UT Martin. The main thing he was looking for was the atmosphere from the fans inside Sanford Stadium. Following the visit, Christian said the visit was great. When asked what stood out, he said, "Definitely the crowd and the electricity in the stadium, but the conversations with coaches also stood out."

Prince Avenue's head coach, Greg Vandagriff, spoke very highly of Christian following the game. I asked him what he brought to the team, "Physicality, 6'5" and 275, and can run like a deer," Coach Vandagriff said. He then goes on to say whenever you have a 4-star, top-10 defensive lineman in the country, he's going to create issues for the other team. When asked what type of teammate Garrett is, Vandagriff said, "He's a great kid, great teammate, loveable, and like I said, you want him on your team." Coach Vandagriff knew Christian would be a special player in the last 5 games of Prince Avenue's State Championship-winning 2022 season. "He started dominating," Coach said, "He grew two inches and put on 20 pounds in the offseason and became a freak."

Chrisitan visited Tuscaloosa last weekend for Alabama's game against Texas. He said the school was great and everything was nice. He then says that both teams played hard, but Texas' ability to move the ball against the Alabama defense better won them the game. Garrett returns to Athens this weekend for the Bulldogs game against the Gamecocks. Christian said the main thing he has an eye on in this game is how the defensive line plays and how Tray Scott coaches the game. Garrett said that UGA is making him feel like a priority in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Georgia's 25 class is already off to a fast start, as it's rated as the #1 class in the cycle. Kirby Smart has 6 commitments in the class so far, with 3 ranked in the top 20. Garrett could be a great addition to go along with committed 4-star DL prospect Justus Terry.

Christian Garrett is a name that Georgia fans need to keep a very close eye on in the 2025 class.
