Official Dawgs Central Prediction - Dawgs Will Get a 5* Soon

Is it FINALLY that time?

It has seemed like an eternity that UGA has led for 2023 5* EDGE Samuel M'Pemba. Georgia has really made M'Pemba a priority since this spring and has done an incredible job recruiting the 6'3 240 pounder. The Missouri native who is playing his senior season at IMG Academy has been to Athens multiple times this summer and this fall for Gamedays. The main competition right now for the Dawgs is Tennessee. He took an official visit the weekend the Vols played Alabama. Even after that visit, all of the talk on his recruitment centered around UGA. Miami and LSU are still hanging around, but it's the Dawgs and then everybody else right now.

M'Pemba has actually gotten pretty close with 4* UGA EDGE commit Gabe Harris, who transferred to IMG towards the beginning of the season after having eligibility issues in Georgia. IMG took a trip to Central-Phenix City recently where AJ Harris plays. Of course the 5* Dawg commit is also trying to get M'Pemba to join him in Athens also.

Looking at the roster, UGA is going to be pretty thin on the edge next season after losing Nolan Smith and Robert Beal. Someone with M'Pemba's size could come in and contribute right away, even if we bring in a transfer or two.

M'Pemba is ranked #29 overall and the #4 EDGE prospect in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. If he joins the 2023 class, it would be he and Harris as the current EDGE commits. Georgia is also after another 5* EDGE in Damon Wilson and would love to take all three. Just adding M'Pemba would bring UGA an absolutely ridiculous LB/EDGE class, where he would join Harris and the three ILB commits (Wilson, Allen, Bowles). Georgia currently has 22 commits and the 2nd ranked class in the nation.
