Suspended Georgia receiver Colbie Young was back practicing with the Bulldogs on Monday, rejoining team activities for the first time since being arrested on misdemeanor battery and assault charges on October 8th.

Athens attorney Kim Stephens represents Young. In a statement to DawgsCentral on Monday night, Stephens said that Young was recently cleared by the university’s Title IX office, which paved the way for Young’s return to team activities.

“The Title IX office at UGA cleared Colbie so he was allowed to return to team activities including practice. We expect and hope that the prosecutors will follow the Title IX offices lead and dismiss the charges against Mr. Young in the very near future,“ said Stephens.

Sources who spoke to DawgsCentral on Monday evening said that Young mostly practiced off to the side while the rest of the team went through drills.

Young being cleared comes after his accuser previously said that she would like “to make clear my desire to have all charges against Colbie Young dismissed.” Stephens had previously said that the woman first contacted the Athens-Clarke County Solicitor’s Office on October 14th, requesting the charges be dropped.

On November 7th, Stephens made public a signed affidavit from the woman. The woman said the police report from that night was “slanted and does not accurately portray what occurred on Oct. 8."

"Colbie did not place his hands on me in any way during the conversation and argument that was inappropriate or unwanted,” said the woman in the affidavit. “He did not hit me. He did not push me. He did not cause any bruising or marks on me. He did not injure me in any way."

At the time, Stephens said that the woman requested the affidavit to be made public because the charges had not yet been dismissed.

Young has not played since Georgia’s 31-13 victory over Auburn on October 5th. He has 11 catches for 149 yards and 2 TD’s this season. At the time of his suspension, he was emerging as one of Georgia’s top boundary receivers and an important downfield target for QB Carson Beck.

No timetable for Young’s return to game action has been defined. The Bulldogs will play Georgia Tech in Sanford Stadium on Friday before taking on Texas or Texas A&M in the SEC Championship on December 7th in Atlanta.
