Countdown to Kickoff: 71 Days

We have a Countdown to Kickoff thread in our Dawgs Central forum. Every day, we relate the number of days out from kickoff to either a player or play. Today we are 71 days out, and for me the number 71 means George Foster. George was such a huge part of Georgia's turnaround in the late 90's and early 2000's. What Have We Done?

In 2010, I read a book called Death to the BCS by Dan Wetzel. In that book, Dan laid out a proposal to replace the Bowl Championship with a playoff in college football. He actually proposed a model with a sixteen team playoff. When he showed the playoff matchups, I have to admit they were very cool. We're Getting Closer

We're now only 50 days to kickoff, and that means SEC Media Days are upon us! Beginning Monday the SEC's football coaches will bring three players along with them to Atlanta, GA to speak to gathered media. Kirby Smart will bring with him Stetson Bennett, Nolan Smith, and Sedrick Van Pran. It's pretty crazy to think about how much has changed in just one year (I suppose winning a national championship will do that). But think about these players again. My God a Podcast Joins Dawgs Central

It's official. We've taken our talents to Dawgs Central. When John Powell and I started My God a Podcast back in 2020, we didn't know what would come of it. Neither of us had done a podcast before, but we were excited to take our text messages to a new format that we could share with others. Protect the Puppies

On Saturday, the Dawgs will face Vanderbilt as the Homecoming opponent for the 25th time. You will get to see everything you've come to associate with a Homecoming game at Georgia: former cheerleaders pumping up the crowd, former Redcoat Band members performing, and the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. The Loudest Block I Ever Heard

I've been feeling nostalgic about the 2002 Georgia Bulldogs this week. This Wednesday was the 20th anniversary of Georgia beating Auburn to win the SEC East for the first time in program history. History Repeats Itself

30 years ago, Georgia was preparing to face off against Ohio State in a bowl game. I Can Feel It

Should We Worry About the Inside Linebackers?

The consensus concern about Georgia's defense seems to be around the inside linebackers. Rewind a year. What was everyone talking about? Was it that Georgia was about to field an all time defense? No. Not even close. Dawg on Top: Kirby's Contract Extension

Last week I talked about SEC Media Days approaching, how much things had changed, and what might go down. The funny thing is the biggest piece of news came down AFTER Kirby Smart and company had left Atlanta.  Kirby Smart agreed to a contract extension through 2031 that will pay him $10,250,000 in 2022 with increases that will eventually reach $12,250,000 in 2031.
